Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry Anime Review

Review
Rakudai, is it an Absolute Duo rip off or does it take the concept and make it better?

Well let me tell you Rakudai, takes that concept and shoots for the stars with it, though the premise may be the same: high-school students that fight each other in tournaments using blades formed from their hearts, the rest of setting is completely different and far superior having a much better plot that is well thought out, having various twists and turns that are unexpected though the ending of series was a complete cliff-hanger and left you wanting more, but as of at the moment no second season has been scheduled which is a let-down.

An interesting point that I will note about this anime, it's not a harem but instead a romance which is extremely refreshing as there is really only one love interest and then one other person but the feelings never get across for the latter, the series is still prone to its occasional ecchi moments but I felt that they didn't ruin the anime as much as they could have done.

While we're on the topic of things that ruined, I found the art style used to be a disappointment, it just didn't fit with the show well but the overall art itself was good, especially in when it comes to using colours which becomes more prominent as the series draws to a close sadly but it also used well in the opening animation which I must say is one of my favourites of the year due to great presentation and evolution as the series goes through different arcs, as well as a great song choice that fits the tone of the show well, which can be said of the soundtrack as well.

Though on the other hand the ending not as desired, as while the song is good the animation used is boring and nothing worthwhile which is unlike the rest of the animation as that is fairly good and has great flow during fight sequences.      

But getting back on track as said before the plot is broken down into a few arcs with each centring around a girl usually but the meat that comes out is the development of the two main characters Ikki and Stella through each arc whether it be emotional or romantic development, as each arc tests the two characters to change and evolve, which I found to be a breath of fresh air and be highly exhilarating.

Next and finally the characters, who are very likeable and have great designs with exception to Stella who is a girl who uses fire and has red hair, yeah how original, but aside from this the rest are great, one in particular I like was Alice, who had an interesting personality and the design of the things they wore was great and fit them well. The development for the characters was also well crafted, mainly in the main two characters as other rest of cast barely get any with Shizaku getting the most but not much, though in the case of supporting characters their personalities are what shine best, though some are a bit boring but most of the main ones have great back story that levels them out.  

In conclusion, I would recommend this if you want a good romance or action series, watch this. But to others who want a more story driven anime I'd give this one a miss.

Review:
This review will be very short!
The setting for this anime takes place in high school so nothing new there and follows the life of high-school girl Komori who has a big heart (and a big chest) as she can never say no to any request given to her. The series then follows her life completing requests and talking with her friends over the course 2 minute episodes, honestly there not much to say, the show is relaxing and is a good wined down from serious shows but aside from that there is not much else to watch it for, as it has no proper plot or ending, although a small romance sub-plot occurs later on, it doesn't go anywhere.

Though the show does have some good points as the characters are very likeable with good designs and nice personalities that don't feel cliché in any way, which could also be thanks to a cute art style and character interaction which can be quite funny at times that relaxes you which the Ending song and animation help to achieve as well. Though the rest of soundtrack is unnoticeable and doesn't stick out in anyway.    

In conclusion watch this if you want something light that you can finish in 20 minutes, but if you want anything more don't bother with this one.

Magi: Sinbad no Bokuen Anime Review

Review:
The prequel to the Magi series, does it live up to it or fall far from the tree?

Now as this is an OVA series the review will be shorter than usual but I will still try my best to cover as much as possible. Starting of this is a prequel to Magi and focuses around Sinbad's early life as he captures two dungeons and recruits a few of his generals, and as this is only 5 episodes events feel rushed and happen quite fast which is a shame as the events that do take place are great and make up a good plot, but this good have been better if there was more time to play around with. In a similar fashion the ending wasn't too great as it just stops after the second dungeon and doesn't continue which is disappointing but there is a TV adaptation coming out so it will be resolved shortly. 

Though on another hand there is quite a bit of development in the characters that feels quite natural over the five episodes surprisingly, with Drakon having the best who starts of hating Sinbad but by the end respects him, and this process doesn't feel rushed at all. Though there are some developments that didn't feel right one being Ja'far this was did feel rushed and I felt required more fleshing out but overall gives much needed back-story on from the original which is a nice addition and more screen time to other characters who barely appeared in Magi such as Yuman who plays a much bigger role in the plot this time around. 

The animation on the another hand is stunning much better than the originals having great flow and looking overall great, which is combined with a new art style that fits the show well but doesn't feel too different from the original, which could also be said for character designs which help express each characters lives before meeting Sinbad and gives them all a unique look suitable for the setting. 
The soundtrack similarly is well done and while not as great as the originals, still feels great and increases the drama in the show best. 

In conclusion, this makes a great addition to your collection if you've seen Magi as well a nice teaser into what the full TV series will be like.

One Punch Man Anime Review

Review:
One Punch Man, the most over hyped show of the fall season or even the entire year, does it hold up?

One Punch man is a parody anime that makes a joke out of shounen anime with dawn out fights, this is the main premise of the anime and one of the best thinks about it, as fight scenes at most last 2 minutes when main character Saitama becomes involved.
So where is this amazing idea set, well in a collection of cities that are prone to being attacked by mysterious beings from monster attacks to alien invasions, so to counter this the cities built a hero association to counter evil, then there is Saitama the main character a completely average guy who is hero just for fun and can kill in one punch, and that's it, this simply but creative idea is great and makes the show a blast to watch.

As said before fights aren't long so story arcs don't last particularly long and are quick to finish which is a nice touch as each arc gets main plot across and there is no useless filler in between to hold you down. Though on another hand it isn't just about the fights there is still a central plot that drives the show forward even if it isn't the strongest one, as sometimes I felt that the only think that kept me going through some of the talking was the humour which well wrote and is quite funny at times. Also even though there are other heroes in the series will some really fun and likeable abilities, when they are compared to the main character's power they fall far from the spotlight which is sad as there are truly some fun and interesting characters in this series.
Though by the end of the show you will want more and more, it ends on a cliff-hanger and no second season has been announced which will come across as a disappointment and all we can do is hope even if the ending is quite funny.

Moving on to the character designs in which the only think I can say is amazing, as most if not all have unique appearances making all of them remember-able by the end from the many heroes in the Hero association to the main characters to the various monsters that confront them all are superb and creative and thanks for not have a boring spiky haired protagonist, the baldness of the main character was a refreshing change. Though this is not all the characters have to often as most have great quirks that make them fun to watch especially in character interaction between each other from the serious moments that hold you add the edge of your seats to funny moments that will make you laugh out loud which is at its best when Saitama takes the spotlight, thanks to a great laid back personality and well wrote script.

Moving on from character designs, let's get to the real jewel of the show the art and animation, as from the get go it looks amazing from extremely well done animation sequences and well-drawn art which gets better as the show goes, which I find to be a rarity with current anime even when the art goes simple for comedy scenes it still feels and looks great. But on the other hand there is the soundtrack which I found to be forgetful but mixed in well with the show, which could also be said for the ending song as well. But on the opposite side is the opening song which is great and mixes with the tone of the shoe beautifully.

In conclusion go watch it, it's great, that is all. Your still here, go now, watch it!

Ayato arrived at Rikka at the invitation of the Student Council President of the Seidoukan Academy, Claudia, and right after that he incurred the wrath of the "Petalblaze Witch" Julis, and ended up having to duel her.

Review: 
Asterisk, is it a boring harem or something that could improve the genre?

Asterisk is set in a world where school train and fight each other for whatever using special armaments, sound familiar of course it does, so the setting is nothing special. But the story for a change is good and actually interesting with main driving force of the plot being just a catalyst for many different stories to take place. The main driving point being main character Ayato's quest to find his older sister who disappeared after attending Seidoukan Academy which leads him to meet a variety of individuals that happen to be all girls who he then helps through their problems, so once again nothing really different. 

The story just doesn't feel forced unlike other harems as each encounter feels natural and the characters have little quirks that make them interesting although some are a cliché which adds to the overall plot. Though by the end as per usual story ends on a cliff-hanger which I did see coming as the pacing of the story while good is held back by the amount of episodes but don't fear because I second season has been announced.

As said before the characters are interesting and most have good character designs but this really only applies to supporting characters and the main characters before they become part of the harem, as the main cast I found to be extremely boring with uninspiring design especially the main two as Ayato is quite boring looking and Julis a pink haired girl who uses fire, at least she doesn't have red hair but its close. While on the other side characters who are part of the harem are fun, and have great back-story or an interesting personality before entering but after they only care for Ayato and become boring.  


The real jewel is in the supporting cast in particular characters from other schools are they are designed wonderfully and all have a unique personalities and drives that make them feel unique, despite some have barely having any screen time.

In a similar respect to the character design, the art used in this show is different that looks refreshing even changing once to an art that just looks amazing but is a little off putting, just like the animation is okay at best, though the opening animation is quite fun to watch and the ending animation strangely look great. But the ending song is okay in comparison, especially when compared to the opening song which fits the show perfectly with its upbeat j-pop sound. This could also be said of the soundtrack as it fits perfectly with the tone of show and increases interest in the fights scenes the most.  

In conclusion Asterisk is great if you're looking for a good harem that in not bogged down by ecchi filler and has a decent enough story that keeps getting more interesting.

Review:
Does the second season top the original? The answer is yes, - yes it does, launching off straight from where the last season ended, Kingdom of Magic takes you on journey that forever changes our characters and world forever.

Even though most of setting stays the same throughout, new locations and factions are presented from the magical city of Magnostadt to the deadly Reim Empire that's based upon the real world's Roman Empire as well as including nations from the previous series like the Kou Empire and Sindria, while also being given an in depth look at their workings to get a sense of scale onto how powerful these nations are and how they affect the Magi World, this is a great addition to the series as it helped immerse me in the world and care more for it. 

Now on the other hand the start of the plot was a little disappointing, as it did something I hate which was show the end or close to the end of series at the start of the show which was totally unnecessary. Other than that though the story is fantastic and well written taking each of the four main characters on different journeys to better improve their characters, well for the most part as Morigiana and Hakuryuu barely make an appearance, having very little screen time but on the other side Aladdin and Alibaba become the driving points of the plot have great amount of detail being put into their growth even if Alibaba's is shorter, but nevertheless these characters help drive you through a fantastic plot full of twists, fun battles and new interesting characters through interesting and fun arcs even if it was a little predictable. Though even though the ending was great it does cliff-hanger and unlike the first there's no next season in sight which was a disappointment.  

As I've just said out of the four main characters only three get any real development and out of those three only the one getting vast amounts of screen time which is Aladdin who as said before has good screen time and development changing from that small naive child from the first season to a wise magi, while others like Hakuryuu and Alibaba get good development that helps shape their new personalities for the rest of the season. While with Morigiana, I'm not sure what happens with her as she is only in a few episodes where nothing really happens which was a disappointment. 

But on a brighter side the support characters flourish in this series once again, well new ones do and some older ones, such as older characters get new back-story, in particular members of the Kou Empire (Kougyoku) are given a much needed back story though other characters like Sinbad don't. But leaving the old behind, lets focus on the new, with newer characters being shown at every corner that are all fun and interesting to look at while story or two that helps drive the plot forwards. 


Speaking of fun to look at, characters designs in this show are as great as ever, with new character looking unique and refreshing and old characters getting re designed which helps keep the feeling that the world of Magi gives out. The art in a similar fashion while remaining the same looks better and animation is faster and improved. 

Which can also said about the soundtrack as well, which resonates well with the world the anime has built and makes you feel at home, but this cannot be said of the Openings and Endings, as I found the first opening and ending to be boring and forgetful like they were missing that spark that made the first enjoyable, but on another side the second opening and ending help capture that again.       

In conclusion, the Kingdom of Magic is a worthy second season and is a must watch for people who loved the first. Even if is held back by a few errors.
